Our Story

MIO NONNO

Our story starts from humble beginnings

Our childhood started amongst the beauty of Albania, specifically Kosovo..and all of its Balkan splendor. The beauty of the mountains that surrounded us, the aromas of the Mediterranean and the slow-cooked foods that have known and tasted in our childhood, passed on through the generations have always resonated with us and we knew that we needed to bring our love and passion of food to the states. We, (Noti and Ati) are lifelong friends. We both found ourselves among the bustling city of New York and the Hamptons and we continue to add to our journey.

We have always had an affinity for Italian food (they are our neighbors after all). The foods of the Mediterranean and the culture of family around us has never been far from our hearts. We both worked and gained much of our love of restaurants working and owning our own restaurants in this part of the world and owe much of what we know and experienced from both the people and foods that we were allowed to create.

Mio Nonno Trattoria

Where Grandfather’s Recipes Met Texas

After a substantial period of time, we knew that our travels would take us to another part of the country and Texas just seemed to be calling our names. As the saying goes, “We’re not from here but we got here as quick as we could!”

Memories of our Grandfather really never left our heart and minds as we always spent most of our childhood in his presence enjoying the foods that he would create. Because of this, the concept of “Mio Nonno” (My Grandfather) was born.

Our first restaurant started in Allen in 2014. We wanted to create menu items that have always been favorites of ours and ones that we think you would love here in Texas. With the success of our first restaurant and really having the desire to expand our flavors to share with others, we opened our second location in Flower Mound, Texas in 2017.

Bringing a Taste of Home to Dallas

Our third location in Dallas, recently opened in November, 2018 is our latest and greatest in the chic, downtown Dallas area of Victory Park. We are truly looking forward to once again bringing a little bit of ourselves to this part of Texas.
We pride ourselves in bringing a completely scratch kitchen to your palate with both our sweet, savory and unique dishes. Explore the beauty of our country from our kitchen to your table…Even our desserts are made in-house so don’t forget to try one of them soon!

Humbly yours, Noti and Ati
